Our Green Vow: Saying “I Do” to a Greener, Better World
At Dream Green Weddings™, our commitment to the environment is two-fold. First, it starts at “home” with our own green business practices. Second, it extends to our carefully selected green suppliers. We have high expectations for the companies and businesses we partner with to bring you our exclusive collection of green wedding specialties. It’s not easy finding unique, beautiful AND sustainable products. However, we believe it’s worth every extra effort for your special day, and the preservation of our special environment!
How are we environmentally and socially responsible?
- Your purchase will help make a difference—a percentage of our annual net profits will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation each year. The mission of the National Wildlife Federation is to "educate, inspire and assist individuals and organizations of diverse cultures to conserve wildlife and other natural resources and to protect the Earth's environment in order to achieve a peaceful, equitable and sustainable future." Currently, we are donating directly to the NWF’s efforts to help the wildlife affected by the oil spill in the Gulf. Learn more…
- We strive to select suppliers who are environmentally and socially responsible, which means they not only produce eco-friendly products, they endeavor to run a sustainable and fair organization. As you browse our collection of green wedding specialties, these suppliers will be highlighted with tabs labeled “Eco-Commitment” and/or “Social Responsibility” on the product page.
- Our largest selection of green wedding invitations are made by an environmentally friendly company that ONLY uses either tree-free cotton paper or recycled paper pulp from 100% certified sustainable forests. Plus, they only use vegetable-based inks.
- In the spirit of spreading good will and inspiring social change, some of our suppliers donate proceeds of every purchase to charitable and environmental organizations. As you browse our collection of green wedding specialties, this will be highlighted with tabs labeled “Social Responsibility” on the product page.
- In order to raise environmental awareness about the impact of weddings on the planet, we started a campaign to declare April as “Greener Weddings” month. If you would like to join the campaign, e-mail heather@dreamgreenweddings.com to request a promotional badge.
- We are a virtual office, which means we do not commute to a physical office each day. This helps to reduce carbon emissions.
- We purchase any necessary office supplies from theGreenOffice.com, which conveniently ranks its full selection of eco-friendly office supplies by “greenness.” They also provide carbon-neutral delivery/shipping.
- Our e-commerce software partner, Volusion, is actively doing its part to help the environment by working to become a carbon-negative organization. They have partnered with CarbonFund.org to support major carbon offset projects, which fights climate change.
- We limit all printing (we do not produce catalogs or brochures). Everything is available online.
- In our effort to create a green supply chain, whenever possible, we ship directly from our suppliers to our customer. This eliminates the need to ship products to a warehouse in Central Florida (where we are located), and then ship it back out to our customers. Again, this practice reduces carbon emissions. In fact, sometimes our customers and suppliers are located within a few states of each other, and it makes eco-sense to ship the shorter distance (even though we tend to make less profit on this arrangement).
- We primarily work with companies located within the U.S. and Canada.
- As a general guideline, we typically ship ground (as do our suppliers). Airplanes have a larger impact on global warming than ground transportation.
- We utilize biodegradable and recycled packaging, and encourage our suppliers to do the same whenever possible. We regularly practice recycling of paper, plastic, glass and aluminum.
